3. Oh yes, I regularly come across the idiocy saying that the Nazis were leftists.

After all, the argument goes, look at the name of the NSDAP, "National Socialist German Workers Party". Proves they were socialists.

Of course, the response is, "Then you clearly believe that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a democracy. Look at the name. Not to mention the German Democratic Republic."

I'm reminded of a bit from the British sitcom, Yes, Minister:

Sir Humphrey: East Yemen, isn't that a democracy?

Foreign Office Official: Its full name is the Peoples' Democratic Republic of East Yemen.

Sir Humphrey: Ah I see, so it's a communist dictatorship.
