and along those lines, one small, but I think important step is to sign up with Credo for long distance and cell phone service. VERY progressive company. Each month, you can "round up" your bill to support great causes that come under the categories civil rights, economic and social justice, environment, peace and international freedom, and voting rights and civic participation.

Just got a sheet that summarizes their activity for 2012 - some examples:

$104,573 for ACLU
$195,149 for Planned Parenthood
$103,000 for Earthjustice
$95,290 for Amnesty International
$76,988 for Oxfam
$89,455 for Mother Jones Investigative Fund
$141,307 for Doctors Without Borders

Altogether there are 40 organizations that have shared nearly $3 million from Credo customers donations. Oh, and when you call Credo, you get a courteous, live person FAST!
