The people have been victimized for over half a century. When someone sneezes the wrong way and they put three generations of the family in a prison camp because some neighbor has snitched on them it is a crime against humanity.
I think the average person on DU probably doesn't know squat about North Korea (the guy in the Youtube video seemed to be a rambling idiot). I admit before I came to Korea I didn't know much, but the more I have learned the more I feel sorry for the people there.
The documentaries are a good start for anyone wanting to learn about North Korea. I've posted lists of books and videos but they get sunk by some of the truly stupid shit threads posted on DU. When people on here buck up and actually show they care, it will mean they actually took the time to learn something.
