In reply to the discussion: Pic Of The Moment: New Poll: Among GA Republicans, Paula Deen More Popular Than MLK Jr. [View all]Swede Atlanta
(3,596 posts)41. Not surprising...
I am a northern transplant to Georgia (for work) and while within the "perimeter" I find these views at least outwardly rare, I have no doubt as you move out from the Atlanta "core" you will find these views more and more widely embraced.
Some of it is outside of Atlanta, Atlanta is hated because it is a fairly liberal city with a black majority. It also drives much of the state's economy and the "provinces" dislike that.
I'm sure that many a man and woman in rural Georgia think Paula Deen is a goddess and her food is of the angels and any n**** that gets in her way needs to be dealt with.
It is still a vestige of the old south. It is rooted in religion and a lack of education plain and simple.

Of course in a white rascist party like the republican party a rascist is popular.

If only MLK had served Krispy Kreme Cheeseburgers at the March on Washington.
