6. I was reading a blog, the thesis that the ONLY possible response to many such ideas is to mock them.

They are so unwilling to address reality, to engage in rational and step away from the magical, that it is a complete waste of time to address them in any kind of serious, rational manner. Ever. It really will do no good, none at all, and you will die trying. You have to approach them from another angle, disorganize their world, and cause it to be reshaped like you want it.

Interestingly there is some research about people and change that backs this up, and it may be that mocking them is one of the very few ways that might cause them to open the window and rethink things so we can identify our common enemy.

So maybe not just bleak without them...maybe lost without them
