Makeup Tutorial Brilliantly Encourages Women to Vote

Female comedian Megan MacKay was inspired to create a makeup tutorial as
a rebuttal to politicians and pundits that belittle and talk down to women, and to encourage women to vote. The inspired Beyonce voter video is the latest in her series of satirical tutorials that dissect news stories shes passionate about. Earlier she tackled the issues of abuse, in her Ray Rice Inspired Makeup Tutorial, where she uses a foundation called The NFL because itll cover up anything just to save face, and the Supreme Courts Hobby Lobby ruling with her Hobby Lobby Makeup Tutorial.
MacKay addresses Fox News correspondent Jesse Watters remark in which he coined the term Beyonce voters, who are, according to him, comprised of single ladies that depend on the government because theyre not depending on their husbands. You know, because a woman couldnt possibly be single and strong and independent, or make her own decisions.
Its vitally important that women show up at the polls in November with issues of equal pay, health care, birth control and abortion access at stake. This video brilliantly shows why we need more women voting for more women and more progressives in office to stop the carnage the GOP is unleashing on womens rights.
MacKay smartly connects her powerful message with humor, and in an interview with Cosmopolitan she expressed why she chose to parody the makeup tutorial trope. For every makeup step, you can create an awesome set-up and a couple of punch lines without losing your audience in the fray.
MacKays foundation is Rhetoric that she applies by patting on her face. It feels so good to be slapped in the face with rhetoric by a condescending politician, she says. The shadow she uses is Minimum Wage so she expects it to run out pretty quickly, and the coverage wont be great, but youll just have to do with whats there.
Im sealing my foundation in today with a pressed powder called not a doctor,' MacKay says, as she sweeps the brush over her face. So wherever you applied condescending politician, add a light dusting of not a doctor and remind yourself that some politicians frequently make medically inaccurate assumptions about your bodys needs.
And then they turn those wrong assumptions into laws that we are bound to.
As the finishing touch she reminds us there are important measures on a lot of ballots, so dont be ignored, show up at the polls and make your voice heard!
For lips, Im using my favorite shade, Independent Woman. Because b*tch, Beyonce out earned her husband last year. She doesnt need to rely on anybody, and she asks for what she wants
On voting day, dont let other people speak for you.
