In the words of my hero Frank Zappa, our long national drug war nightmare "is like treating dandruff by decapitation."


Decades of ruined and wasted lives because of Nixon's goddamned drug wars. An irony to that is that he commissioned a board to look into recreational drug use. When they concluded that most drugs should be decriminalized and some like pot even legalized, he completely ignored them and did what he wanted anyway.

And there's a lot of FB memes out there plotting drug use of the general population vs. drug war spending since the start of Nixon's War on Drugs. The graph of percentage of recreational drug users for over 40 years has been constant, but the cost has continuously risen upwards in the same time period.

Which, if I was a typical American lawmaker, could lead to only one conclusion;

WE AREN'T SPENDING ENOUGH MONEY ON THE DRUG WAR AND WE AREN'T SENDING ENOUGH PEOPLE TO PRISON!
