8. Oklahoma is saying the state should have no part in marriages

because marriage is ordained by God and not government. That is the reasoning of giving only ordained clergy the power to issue a marriage license. However, a couple can still be officially married by a judge or former judge of the state. Otherwise, they have to sign an affidavit for common law marriage. Which means, only eight other states will recognize the marriage if the couple take the common law approach.

This is nonsense and just another attempt to discriminate through law. Even though there are ways around it, two people pursuing marriage should not have to take those steps. Just another example if hypocrites trying to turn our nation into a theocracy.
