In reply to the discussion: Pic Of The Moment: What Must His Friends Think? "Family Values" Champion Admits To Child Molestation [View all]calimary
(90,987 posts)From what I've read, seems like a lot of this was pushed under the rug so the Breeders could go on teeeeveeee and become rich and famous and role models for reckless overbreeding. I have to wonder about the family patriarch - what drove him to keep knocking up that unfortunate woman he married? What kind of ridiculous overcompensation do we have here? And WHY do we have a family like this glorified and held up as some sort of role models? Obviously this guy never heard of ZPG!
Whenever I see magazines with the Breeders (sorry, but that's what I've thought they were from the beginning - I've never been enthralled by this kind of family) or the "Teen Moms" on the cover, I just want to run in the opposite direction! Confession: I LOVE some of those trashy magazines. They're silly and fun, celebrity froo-froo. But I refuse to look at, much less buy, any of 'em if they have those subjects on the cover. Seems to me that's just signaling that "hey, you should do this, too! You might get a TV SHOW and become rich and famous!!!!" We saw that with the so-called "Octomom." She birthed all those babies assuming she'd get a TV show and become a star, or at least have that to help her support all those kids. Honestly, WHAT THE HELL WAS SHE THINKING??????? Same thing with that ridiculous "Jon and Kate plus 8" crap. I think that's what started it all. I couldn't be less interested. Seems to me all that does is hold up that kind of reckless overbreeding as a positive example of some sort, and encourages it in others so THEY TOO can get themselves a nice lucrative TV deal.
