I agree that we have a corrosive element of our society, propagated on the right and through conservative media that blames government for every woe and seeks to capitalize on that distrust by convincing people to vote against their own interests. That is a very real threat to our society.

However, there is a world of difference between "taking a situation personally" and the actions of that officer in the video.

He was jacked up and fumbling at his utility belt from the moment he approached the vehicle. When he was challenged - LEGALLY - to describe the offense or violation of law to the person he was approaching he crossed the line from officer to sanctioned vigilante. There are procedures and laws that are to be followed and upheld.

Police officers who feel that the public owes them subservience under penalty of summary judgment, assault and potential blindness are unfit to hold that public trust. Period. This is becoming a sad American phenomena - the killing and/or attacking of unarmed civilians. To say nothing of what happens if the guy in that car was black instead of white...its got to end and end fast.
