The Republicans are scraping the bottom of the barrel to show how cruel they can be.
The elderly aren't ABLE to cook or prepare their own food! This program is a lifesaver, not only in feeding ONE MEAL a day to the elderly; if the resident doesn't answer the door when MoW arrives, a call is made to the nearest relative or representative to alert them that something could be wrong.
Plus, the recipients (or some) are given small envelopes to insert a one-dollar-minimum donation per day that they receive a meal. This is for weekdays only. Some recipients even stretch their daily meals into two meals -- lunch & supper.
Rep. Moore pointed out that Republicans will be pressured into voting for the cuts because this service will be lumped in with other Republican-valued cuts.
