12. BULLSHIT. Raising the gas tax affects the lowest incomes the most.

Most Americans from all economic backgrounds drive to work, and probably from the same distances. An increased gas tax will produce higher relative pain to lower incomes than higher incomes. I thought DU was against that.

Plus gas prices aren't going to stay low. Every time gas prices plunge, some DUers/liberals/progressives with short attention spans call for increased gas taxes to raise the pump price right up again...as if oil prices will never go back up. WTF?!

How about raising income taxes on higher earners? Or raising sales taxes on new cars with low mpg(<25,20,15,etc.)?
