I saw him somewhere recently (can't remember what program it was...maybe OPB or NPR?), and I was surprised and how small his voice seemed and even his guitar was hard to hear. It also seemed like he had trouble hitting his notes and staying on tune. I'm not sure what program...but it made me realize how old he was. And they were talking about a new album he was just releasing, and I could only imagine that in the studio they can fix things that they can't fix on an open stage and mic.

Plus the songs he sang were kind of tired too. Not as good as his old stuff. It just didn't seem like him anymore. I've seen him twice, live, but even then he was pretty much playing his commercial successes and there wasn't the beautiful music that he incorporated in this piece. I wish I was into him when he was young. I didn't really discover him till I was in my 30's and he's a year and a half older than I am.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for him again...maybe it was just a bad set.
