The only two people that were referred to in the OP were Andrea Mitchell and Bernie. Andrea is a journalist and Bernie is a presidential candidate.

I gave you an analogy in which any other journalist (or Andrea Mitchell for that matter) would ask the only other presidential candidate (Hillary) critical questions about Bernie. Unless you want to argue that Andrea is not a journalist or Bernie is not a presidential candidate, my analogy is perfectly fine.

If I were you, I wouldn't use words like "stupid" or "twisted". It puts the spotlight squarely on you.
