I remember when I retired from my first career to stay home and parent for a few years, and my boss, whom I adored, counseled me not to do it. He said, "K______, you're not the right type to stay home. I'm afraid you'll turn into that TV mom from a few years ago, Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman."
