The reviews are in, and a film retelling the story of former New York Rep. Anthony Weiners 2013 mayoral campaign has been called extraordinary, witty, and one of the most provocative political documentaries out there.
The documentary, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, has received mostly positive reviews for its intimate portrait of Weiners marriage to Huma Abedin, a longtime top aide to Hillary Clinton, as well as its critique of the medias handling of Weiners scandals.
Stephen Holden of the New York Times wrote, This cringe-inducing portrait of an arrogant politicians self-immolation, like the follies of Gary Hart, John Edwards, Bill Clinton and Eliot Spitzer, shows that even at the risk of career suicide, the penis will not be denied,
"Weiner" is currently registering a 90 percent rating on review site Rotten Tomatoes.
