In reply to the discussion: Dem Platform Committee Votes Down $15 Min Wage Amendment(updated) [View all]ToxMarz
(2,969 posts)It won't be enacted, it is not the appropriate number for the country as a whole, the fight will only start to be won when the (DEMOCRATIC) Federal Government supports a minimum wage that is a least not a joke (my opinion is $15/he is too high to mandate to the entire country), and then actively supports and campaigns for local candidates and legislation supporting a minimum wage that is most appropriate for the particular municipalities/areas. The Federal Govet can not fix this with a one size fits all legislation to force on the country. $15 is too low for some areas, too high for others. But the current minimum wage is WAY TOO LOW for any place. The bottom line is WE govern ourselves, we are not Governed. With a little backing, the people will demand and elect the people that will serve them best on this issue. What they need is genuine support from the party that they won't be hung out to dry if they fight for this, without it they will cling to their $7.00 an hour hoping they don't lose even that.
