Ted Cruz's citizenship was questioned as well. I am not sure this birther movement was FUNDAMENTALLY about racism. Plenty of black conservatives such as Pastor Manning joined in on the bandwagon. The birther movement was about dismissing Obama because of his politics not FUNDAMENTALLY because of his race.
