1. If we 'give up' on climate change, then we have pretty much given up on the human race.

Climate change will be reversed. The only question is will we humans do it so our civilization (and quite possibly humanity) survives, or will we let Gaia do it, because one way or the other, it will happen.

But Gaia doesn't have the vested interest in preserving human life (or any other particular life) when dealing with climate change.
