Create an excuse to invade, destroy the country's infra-structure, displace as many people as possible, get rid of the country's leader, then move in and take the resources....oil, gas, pipeline, minerals, whatever.
Same thing happening in Yemen, with Saudis as our ally aggressor.

Remember...Syria was on the original PNAC list of countries the Cheney gang planned on taking out ages ago.
