I remember once awhile ago, he was a guest on Jon Stewarts show, just around the time the Tea Party was gaining popularity. He had a chance, like all of the Republican leadership, to nip this in the bud, but he went all in. And I remember Stewart kind of gobsmacked asking him "Are you going over to Crazytown?" He just replied with a nervous chuckle. I think that's the last time Ive ever seen him on The Daily Show. He destroyed that "maverick" mantle a long time ago.
