There was a lot of talk at that time that there might be some hacking in the vote counts in Ohio. Wasn't there some story about Ohio exit polls showing Kerry winning but the voting machines sent the vote information through a server and voila, Bush won. Some speculate that was why Rove was so shocked on Fox when the race was called for Obama, and he was crying about Ohio votes.

I think I remember some suspicion about that happening for Romney in 2012. Anonymous made a video warning against that and how they were watching it.
