Leah Remini was in this church since she was around nine years old (her mother got the family into it). They ARE completely brainwashed. I realize some will wonder how people could get themselves into this situation. Well, it very well could've been me. I moved to L.A. When I was 31 (almost 30 years ago)! I was searching for meaning. Thank God I found many ways to spiritually evolve and am still continually working. I would have been a perfect candidate for this cult. I've had a couple of experiences involving this group. When I was a convention planner a hotel, a group called the Cult Awareness Network (an organization whose members were trying to get family members and friends back) had planned a conference at our hotel. The leader was Patricia Ryan, the daughter of Leo Ryan who was killed on the airstrip in Guyana while trying to get information on the Jim Jones People's Temple Group. Well, the Scientologists had found out about me. One day A lady had the hotel front desk call me down to the lobby. She told me she was with Scientology and my involvement with the Cult Awareness Network would be damaging for me. She said they would follow me, tap my phone at home, all this crap. Later, when I picked up Ms. Ryan at LAX she was being followed and had been threatened while on the plane (in a very below the radar type of way). A few days later we had all these protesters outside the hotel. These people are scary! They ended up shutting down the entire Cult Awareness organization. I hope before people judge (thinking people who to get into Scientology are weak-willed, not too bright, etc.) they'll watch a few episode to see how it all happens. It is terrifying!
