This may become more than a metaphor as folks start looking at the opening of the Bain company in 1984. As the LA Times and WaPo are reporting today, Romney couldn't raise the capital to start Bain from American investors, so he went elsewhere, particularly Panama. This was exactly the time that General Noriega was coming into power (1983), so there's a good chance that whatever proto-Bain was up to, he was in on it.

Mitt's running mate may be Manuel Noriega!
