6. I miss Miles Davis

When I was a little kid studying music in the 60s, I used to run to the record store to buy a Miles Davis or Bill Evans album I'd ordered. Miles Davis was a household name all over the civilized world. The 50s and 60s were a great time for music and I miss that level of excitement and appreciation. I loved it all, from Miles Davis to Jimi Hendrix, to The Seekers. You could see guys like Dizzy Gillespie on the Ed Sullivan Show and hear Stan Getz playing sax on AM radio such as on The Girl From Ipanema. Sadly, I don't know if the average person on the street today could name even one contemporary jazz musician. Miles Davis was beautiful and for me will never die. I love this new stamp marked "FOREVER" that came out last month, a joint French - U.S. Postal Service commemoration of two great international artists.
