And, like Nelson Mandela, he is becoming an icon of resistance, of America's collective conscience holding out for the greatness that is in all Americans - and which can hopefully be brought out again. Also, a shining personal example of the truth of Martin Luther King's words that we should judge a man not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.
