About a hundred years ago, many girls/women were tricked into killing themselves by painting glowing dials onto watches. They were trained to use their lips to form a point on the brushes in between strokes. They were lied to about the dangers. The book shows clearly how some supervisors and co-owners wanted to do the right thing but were silenced/thwarted/kicked out/impoverished by their sociopathic peers. Some male employees were also victimized. The sociopathic owners of these factories enriched themselves and used every rotten trick imaginable to slander the girls and anyone else who got in their way. The girls/women died slowly and horribly, with terrible pain and grotesque disfigurements. Their families were financially ruined by the medical expenses.
