...knew exactly what he was talking about when he called teevee ''a vast wasteland.'' He saw it early on and tried to warn us. Just as Ike tried to warn us about the eventual police state -- the one that we now have -- but many still refuse to accept the truth of it.
We kept waiting for an onslaught of heightened hysteria accompanied by the dramatic arrival of the police state like in the movies. But we didn't wake up one morning and find black-suited police all over the place. Because we already had them in-place and we they are there right now. They were eased into place in full view, and we accepted it all because we were taught by the teevee to be afraid and to demand security. And that our enemies (whomever they are) be crushed, and we didn't care how many of our rights it cost us. Just so long and we were still free to drink our HFCS sodas and to eat our Chick-fil-A GMO-raised chicken samiches. We were good with it all.
- We rarely listen to the warners or their warnings......
