That is what should have happened here, but instead, Henry Paulson became a 'de facto president' as someone put it at the time, and took on that role when he threatened Congress, AFTER they had responded to the will of the people and voted against the bailouts, with Marshal Law. And even though this is well known, there has been virtually no reaction to it.

What does that say about the American people?

It was the PEOPLE of Iceland who refused to accept the situation and who demanded the removal of Government officials who had facilitated the corrupt bankers.

So in the end, the fault lies with the American people mostly. And even when some of them finally took to the streets, look what happened, even here on DU we have people who despise OWS, which was the first major reaction to the corruption here.

We get the government we deserve. Iceland got the one deserve.
