The long term goal of the Greedy Old Pigs is to dismantle FDR's New Deal and LBJ's Great Society. They know the only way to do this is to "starve the beast" with huge budget deficits.

The massive debt incurred by this tax bill is a feature, not an unintended consequence. It also rewards their wealthy campaign contributors who threatened to withhold their checks if the politicians they bought didn't come through for them.
