14. Okay, so why was Bill Clinton put through the impeachment process?

The basic observation made by Ms. McCain is not inaccurate. Such behavior by people in power long pre-dates our democracy.

It has been argued that the same personal drives that spur some into seeking political power tend to intensify a person's libido.

My main critique of Ms. McCain's statement is the point touched on by others. Those who bellow the loudest about morality--and it is always sexual morality that concerns them, are continually supporting laws and policies that are meant to interfere in other people's-- highly personal--sexual expression.

And then, when the Moralizers' hands are caught in the cookie jar--which they so often are--it is time to accept human flaws and separate private behavior from public scrutiny and concern.

By the way, does anyone know offhand how much money was spent on the Starr Report investigating Clinton? I have often thought of the report as a very expensive piece of self-righteous porn.

You know, the person getting the details makes disapproving noises indicating the he or she is thoroughly scandalized, while making sure that they don't miss any one of those "disgusting" details.
