It doesn't matter where it was coming from. The fact that one of the students was going through a traumatizing experience, felt he couldn't go back to school (so the kids at school knew about the video), should have alerted his teachers to the seriousness of the situation.

I don't think teachers need to be social workers. But since they do have the kids all day and see and hear and become aware of things, it is their duty to report to the appropriate people (principal, teacher, school board) things affecting the well being of the students.

That the school didn't even call the parents is inexcusable (if that's true).
