I've only had it for a little over 50 years now, so it's not like I'm fickle about facial hair. But it's always neatly trimmed, never bushy or unkempt. Everyone tells me I look "distinguished" with it. I'm more of the cerebral, professorial beard wearer, as opposed to the Doc Martens and wife-beater tee-shirt type beard wearer. 
It's a matter of personal preference, and like I said, I've had it for over 50 years.
Not everyone with a beard is a Nazi, OK?
