In reply to the discussion: Chris Wallace: Romney's Tax Returns 'Politically Toxic' [View all]unblock
(56,304 posts)28. +100 i think this is a VERY plausible hypothesis.
you're right, if he had half a brain, he would have taken steps to make sure his irs forms were nice and clean.
aside from an absurdly low tax rate, that is. the difference between 13% and 26% on his staggering income is crazy money, money that he could easily spend on an ad buy to clean up his image.
but the swiss bank thing is very plausible because he could easily have figured that running all the dodgy stuff through swiss banks successfully keeps his irs forms clean.
until he had to accept the amnesty deal.
now at that point, a reasonable man might well have realized he couldn't get elected, but rmoney is a man used to winning and winning BIG when all around him are losing everything.

shouldn't Romney have to endure the "would I want to have a beer with this guy" Test??

They've actually got one of the Koch brothers as a delegate. Maybe they'll eliminate the middle man.

Everything I'm hearing from FoxNews sounds like a post-mortem on Romney's campaign

As long as the questions are hanging out there, we have to assume the worst.

Any day that Mitt Romney campaigns for himself is a 'Bad Day for Mitt Romney...'

The fact that huge corporations and folks like Romney do not pay their fair share is a big issue.
