"taking EVERYONE off their medical, that have it and FORCING them into some socialist-democrat utopia that just isn't realistic".
Let those who can afford to and want to keep private insurance keep it.
Offer a "public option" that is paid for out of tax money. Allow people who prefer to be insured by private companies have that choice. Let the private companies compete with the public company.
In many European countries, not all the insurance is government-run. But everyone is insured. Obamacare did not insure everyone. People who choose private insurance should have a certain part of their insurance paid for by the government, maybe up to the amount that those covered by public insurance have. And all insurance should be required to cover all medical care that meets the standard of the medical profession.
I remember when I had my first baby, I was in Europe and shared a room with 11 other new mothers. I loved it. It was a large "ward," and there were downsides to that, but the woman next to me had several children already. She showed me how to nurse. Some American women have to hire lactation experts to show them how to succeed at nursing. I learned from a roommate in the hospital. I had a cesarean and was required to stay in the hospital for two weeks. I wasn't sick. It was a long time ago and that is how it was. (Now I would be released to go home earlier.) But it helped my recovery to have all that care for me in the hospital. I had my baby with me a lot of the time.
If people want to pay private insurance companies, let them. But other countries with public systems (especially those with both public and private options but strict rules about coverage) have better health outcomes and longer lives than we do. Google the life expectancy in European countries like Germany, France, Austria, etc., and see for yourself.
Our insurance system is pretty horrible. That's why my insurance is Kaiser Permanente which is as close to the European insurance as possible for the US.
People should be able to choose, but no one should have a plan that doesn't cover their medical care. Before Obamacare many people had plans that were just horrible.
Bankruptcy due to medical costs should not happen. I don't know how it is now, but it used to happen far too often. That is another reason we need universal healthcare coverage.
No one should get rich by investing in health insurance. The money people spend for health insurance should go to medical services and nothing else.
