If I were you, I'd start with today and work backwards - this has been a big news day. Seth addressed it and I'm willing to bet Colbert will as well. He keeps up with breaking news. One time the news about Trump going to North Korea broke while he was taping that day's monologue - so he stopped and ad libbed the rest.
