Because he sucked up to Trump!

Sorry. Joe was ALWAYS a Jeb Bush supporter for the Republican nomination. An establishment Republican, he was anti-Trump for President, as soon as people realized Trump could win the nomination.

People who don't watch the show regularly sometimes make the mistake of expecting it to be a partisan show, so they're not used to having some balance. I've watched it or listened to it almost every airing since the show began. It always had guests of both major parties on. Their job was not to argue with or tear down guests. They had discussions that they tried to make fair, including asking some tough questions while trying to be polite.

At some point, though, Trump became too much. They had never supported him for President, but his statements, lies, and behavior became so bad that they quit having him on. Which was one reason why Trump repeatedly attacked them, and made the infamous insulting and gross statements about Mika's cosmetic surgery.

They were friendly with a lot of Republicans and Democrats. Trump was a brand in NYC so they were friendly with him, until he started having a chance of winning the nomination, and started his pathological lying and derogatory nicknames of other candidates & such.

But people who don't watch the MJ show regularly may have seen a show or two in 2015 and before, and made incorrect assumptions.

The show had any and all candidates on as guests who wanted to come on. They were polite to all of them.

Here they are discussing the current Democratic field, particularly Bernie Sanders. They are kinder to the candidates than some other Democrats. They are discussing the candidates dispassionately, analyzing the field, and the like.

December 2015: Joe dumps Trump, who is being interviewed by phone by Joe. Trump was fillibustering on his Muslim ban instead of answering a direct question about it.
