Video: Mitt Romney Admits the Economy is "Getting Better" under Pres. Obama [View all]

Michael Allen, Tue, September 04, 2012

During the Republican National Convention last week, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan started mocking President Obama with the 1980 Ronald Reagan line: "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?"

However, ThinkProgress.org and MSNBC (video below) reported that in January of this year, Mitt Romney admitted the economy was getting better during an interview with Laura Ingraham.

Romney said: "Well, of course it’s getting better. The economy always gets better after a recession, there is always a recovery."

Ingraham replied: "Isn’t it a hard argument to make if you’re saying, like, OK, he inherited this recession, he took a bunch of steps to try to turn the economy around, and now, we’re seeing more jobs, but vote against him anyway? Isn’t that a hard argument to make? Is that a stark enough contrast?"

Romney came back with: "Have you got a better one, Laura? It just happens to be the truth."

Romney video begins at 9:08 below.
