Reconstructing The Antikythera Mechanism

This video series documents a reconstruction of The Antikythera Mechanism in its most authentic form to date, with the intention of establishing the precise machining tools, techniques and technology used to create it.

It's easy to say "Archimedes designed that..." as the Nova series does, but only because so much history has been lost.

Making the metal and cutting the gears and other parts for the mechanism was a high technology as sophisticated as the math. We don't know, and may never know, the people who were masters of that.

War is such a horrible thing, so much is lost.
