3. Docs have the real live people involved. If the real people are played by actors it's a docu-drama.

Productions about a true story with living participants are categorized as:
1. Documentaries if those participants tell their own stories through recorded interviews, although some scenes may be re-enacted by actors, either silently or using the actual words of the participants. OR if the story is based on historic personages and events, one or more experts explains what actually is known to have happened and actors may re-enact scenes where the historic figure(s)'s actual words are recorded or written by that person or someone who was his/her contemporary.

2. Docu-dramas if the most or all of the living participants are played by actors in a fully scripted production, which sometimes include some the real words of the actual participants but are mostly a screenwriter's interpretation.

There's a small bit of overlap but most are one or the other.

I thought this was a docu-drama based on the trailers they've shown, but I haven't seen the show, though. Was it actually a documentary?
