(2,137 posts)From what I have read, most of the money in the Federal coffers that goes to "bail-outs", federal aid, what-have-you, comes from the more populous and prosperous Blue States. Without their taxation dollars, many of the Red States would be worse off than just their general ignorance and lack of tolerance for a changing world creates.
This is not to denigrate the humanity or needs of those in Red States. And I am certain that different sections of those areas contribute to the common good of this country as well.
What bothers me is not only the divisiveness in this country that is being weaponized by Trump and Co., but the resistance to change that is absolutely necessary to cope with dangerous, larger-scale changes that have been happening all around us whether we approved of them or not.
Some people seem determined to turn the world back to 1950's (or even 1850's) social norms when we are facing problems that must be faced with 21st Century technology, and clear--forward thinking--resolve. And many of the people contributing to that technology and providing that thinking would be shut down, closeted or shackled if those antiquated social norms were reinstated.
Oh, good grief! --as Charlie Brown would say. I just have to keep climbing up on that soap box. I'd switch to body wash instead, but those products also come packaged in boxes.
