I haven't read it yet, but may do so soon. (Reading has been difficult for me in the age of Trump, but I'm feeling better about trying it again. I have always been a prolific reader, but have been unable to focus on anything longer than an article.)
I really love listening to Mary talk, and I agree with all you said. Her insights are so valuable when trying to understand what has and is going on. Like tonight, on Don Lemon's CNN show, she said that "Donald" is the only person she's ever met who can "gaslight himself."
She asserted that this is what he is doing, and is the only way he can deal with this. He has to convince himself that he won, because he simply cannot conceive of himself as a "loser." She said he is broken, and that it is her grandfather who broke him. This was not to elicit pity, but to warn, because he is a dangerous monster.
She also said that most dangerous of all are the Republicans who are encouraging this behavior hoping to gain from it. If they had an ounce of ethics or patriotism, they would find a way to "25th" him, but they themselves are so corrupt that they would rather exploit the situation for personal and party gain, and all else be damned.
Sounds about right to me. She's very good at cutting through the BS to the underlying truth. I think she is a true patriot.
