By that time, Huntington’s disease had robbed Woody of most voluntary muscle movement, so when he smiled listening to the song, everyone was amazed.

I got that info from an excellent biography called “Woody Guthrie: A Life” by Joe Klein. I learned about the book because Bruce Springsteen mentioned it in the intro to a nice cover of “This Land Is Your Land.”
