One of these generals is already a full general and is being assigned to a different command. The other general is a Lt. General, a 3-Star general, and is being promoted today to a full general by President Biden.
You may have heard that the new assignment and the new promotion were withheld until after the election as trump may have not approved because the generals are women.
BTW, there are usually four classifications for generals and admirals. A brigadeer general (1-star), equals a 1-star admiral, rear admiral lower half; a major general (2-star), equals a rear admiral upper half; a lieutenant general (3-star), equals a vice admiral; and a full general, (4-star), equals a full admiral (4-star). Full admirals and generals are addressed and written as just "General" or "Admiral" whereas a 3-star is call Lt. Gen., a 2-star as Maj. Gen. and so on.
At times during war a 5-star is created called General of the Army, in the Navy a 5-star is called a Fleet Admiral. This happens very rarely. The Army's 5 Star Generals were General George C. Marshall, General Douglas MacArthur , General Dwight D. Eisenhower, and General Omar N. Bradley.
The Navy's Five-Star Fleet Admirals: Admiral William D. Leahy. Admiral Ernest J. King. Admiral Chester Nimitz. Admiral William F. "Bull" Halsey . The Air Force Five-Star General: Hap Arnold.
Even rarer are the only two 6-star Generals of the Armies: General John J. Pershing and General George Washington (posthumously in 1976).
