With DC statehood, you wouldn't have an even number of states either. And with the current even split of the Senate, and the liberal Democratic leanings of DC residents, this would result in a decisive shift or tilt of the playing field towards the Democrats, with turncoats like Joe Manchin and Kirsten Sinema having less inflated power and importance. I'm sure that DC statehood will be fought tooth and nail by the Republicans.
