CNN: Columnist argues media treats Biden as bad as Trump [View all]

I think this story sort of buries the lead. Dana Milbank just cites data that shows that unlike Trump, who always enjoyed support from right wing and racist outlets, Biden receives often receives criticism from the left for not being progressive enough, thus he has no constituency, while the mainstream media tends to default towards false equivalency.

I think the point that is missed is that unlike Republicans, Democrats do not have propaganda ecosystem that is built around attacking and demonizing the other side and generating outrage as a means of ensuring partisan unity. This, in turn, ensures that Republicans stay true to divisive Republican talking points as Republican electeds lean into extreme talking points.

In contrast, when Democrats tend to be penalized if they were to push violent rhetoric. For example, if a Republican incites violence towards AOC, that Republican will be defended by right wing media. In contrast, can you imagine if Adam Schiff started tweeting violent threats toward Lauren Boebert? Can you think of a progressive outlet that would defend him? To the contrary, he would probably be roundly condemned.
