I just found his letter of introduction when I was clearing out some memorabilia yesterday. He did save some of the ephemera from the period, so this is all mildly triggering to me, is another stupid old man hungry for someone else's land going to drag the whole world into another damned war?

I can't imagine what they're going through over there. All people my age have memories of the rebuilding after the last war, everything in short supply until they were well into their teens.

And all I can do is send money and hope it helps the women, children and old folks leaving Ukraine. Today it was the IFRC, the international Red Cross. Donations are in Swiss francs, which are trading at $1.08 per franc.
