How do you convince those like Marjorie Taylor Greene to get behind President Biden, and to have his back? If we are totally honest with ourselves and view things objectively, I feel, we must acknowledge that there has been a fundamental breakdown or unraveling of basic political unity and consensus in recent years. Heck - as soon as Republicans lose power and control of the government, what do they do? They set about trying to actively sabotage the Democrats, and what they are trying to do to govern this nation. And so, those who have been saying that there is a kind of cold civil war going on in our country lately may be right on target in their statements, and many of them have said that this political cold war state of things goes all the way back to the time of President Reagan. This is a very dangerous state of affairs, actually, because a house divided cannot stand. When political division and factionalism reaches this deep in our country, these divisions will be cynically exploited by enemies, both foreign and domestic, as we have seen in the past seven years of our nation's history. "He's not my president!" may have been a common refrain for those in the party that lost the White House for many more years than we are willing to admit; it goes back at least to the inauguration of George W. Bush and the bitterly contested presidential election of 2000. Maybe that was the critical milestone for political division and polarization in our country. And the internet sure didn't help things either.
