9. My fear is that republicans will still somehow sneak something in, to minimize social security

and all of the other great social programs that are there to protect those who need it the most, who have no insurance, no savings, unable because of health issues/concerns to work, or if they can work, unable to pull in the number of hours that make it worthwhile to pay the medical premiums and other bills too.

I am constantly in shock over what should be an obvious YES answer to help people like this, for who knows, maybe someone you love/know or yourself could be in this dire situation. There aren't enough volunteer organizations out there that can fully shoulder the burden of helping massive needs, not even if every single church in this Country contributes.

OUR government (at all levels) must contribute and play a role too, and if need be, in order to stabilize budgets, cut back on other items in budgets, a process that a lot of us do every month, so critical needs can be met. For a supposedly 'Christian' nation, I find this behavior cutting back on social security (seemingly always, still isn't broke yet, for the almost 50 years I've been in the workforce, paying my share (notice the words, paying my share).

I swear that it sometimes seems that every time we turn around, someone out there in the Congress somewhere is trying to pass some ridiculous that threatens people's long-term payments into Social Security and these other systems (railway workers have different plans).

It's to the point that any kind of legislature, taking money away from Americans and their earned benefits (and there may be a better way to call these types of payments from the government (but in essence, we paid them in), should be voted on by every single people (and dependents) who pays into the system, and not just those voters who manage to pass the barrage of anti-voter measures put in by republicans, but every single voter who pays (or did) payroll taxes, etc.

For a party (the gop) that advocates non-interference in the business sector, etc., they sure interfere quite a bit. Way too much.
