. . . And worse, it gives credence to the ridiculous rhetoric by the right that they are being targeted.

Yes, treason and sedition are illegal. But under U.S. law, what this man in Ukraine was arrested for would never qualify as either. He is being arrested for social media posts that expressed support for Putin. The day something similar happens here is the day the First Amendment dies!
